Brigadeiros [A-list #4]

Standard

Have you heard of these decadent concoctions?
Well, basically I was introduced to it by my good friend back when I was studying in Tasmania…
They’re what I would call a chocolate caramel of some sort…
It’s also known as a Brazilian chocolate truffle…

I got introduced to it on this night right here….

Why you ask I had so much cake in front of me?
Well, it was because it was my birthday!
At that time that is, lovely friends surprised me with all kinds of cake!
(Yeah, I’m a girl who LOVES cake, which I think all of you can tell by now)

So back to brigadeiros, that’s my first encounter right there in my right hand!
(or top left in the pic)
And it was love at first sight!
How can one not love something so rich and decadent?
And I’ve missed it, so I thought why not give it a go?
And looky here, I’m giving y’all the recipe too…
Just because it’s so good and easy to make, you’ve got try ‘em yourselves! IMG_0126Brigadeiros Recipe

500ml Condensed Sweetened milk4 tbs Cocoa powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 TBS butter
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chocolate sprinkles
paper liners

1. Pour the condensed milk in a saucepan, stir in the cocoa powder and salt2. On low heat, cook and stir constantly until mixture becomes thick and starts to pull away from the saucepan
(ensure heat is low to prevent burning)
For me, it took me 25 mins to get it to the right consistency so it could be from 10-25 mins of cooking time.
3. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla
4. Chill for 30 mins
5. Roll them into 1 inch balls and roll them in chocolate sprinkles
and place in paper liners
6. Chill until ready to serve

**notes
You might have noticed that mine is flat instead of being actual balls,
Since I was working on my own and didn’t work fast enough, it sank a little bit in the liners…
But I don’t have a problem with that, still looks and tastes good…lol
So chill right after you shape them into balls if you want to maintain them as balls!

And like I said, I didn’t have ANY problems with it…..
